Who is this race for?
Transierra Norte is an Enduro Mountain Bike blind race across the Northern Sierra of Oaxaca. This is designed for advanced to expert riders ready to spend long days on the bike riding long and technical descents. You must feel confortable with riding more than 2500 m of elevation loss and have the fitness to pedal the non shuttle assisted transfers. We encourage riders to have basic first aid and bike mechanics knowledge.
Certainly weather is something we can´t control, you can expect great warm temperatures down in Oaxaca city, but definitely be prepared for cold temperatures during the nights spent in our base camp in the woods. The rainy season in Oaxaca ends in September and we still have some chances of rain during the race, we highly recommend to bring all the gear needed to ride in wet conditions.
Traveling to Oaxaca
Oaxaca City has an international airport, we suggest to look up for direct flights or connecting flights with Mexico City or Cancun. We provide great well located and safe lodging deals to all the riders and families arriving earlier or staying longer to enjoy other tourism activities in the area.
What gear do I have to carry during the race?
This being a backountry race we encourage every rider to carry enough water, snacks, first aid supplies and basic bike tools to self fix any problem during the race. You can expect aid stations at some points of the race so as professional medics during the event.
The food in Oaxaca is a highlight, and if you have any food restrictions you dont have to worry about, we cater different types of meals satisfying the food restricions filled in your registration form.
