  • Yes! During registration there’s a field where you can add the name of your friends. This will help us to assign you together. Keep in mind that each one of you needs to fill up a form individually when registration opens.

  • One travel bag per person – ideally a large 25kg duffel bag.

  • The base camp is located atop the northern sierra of Oaxaca in the community of Santa Catarina, Ixtepeji. The campsite is simple and rustic, featuring cabins and dormitories, each with their own bathrooms and electrical outlets for charging electronic devices. There is very limited internet signal; however, you can opt for satellite internet provided by the community at a very low cost. We recommend bringing a sleeping bag as nighttime temperatures can drop to 0 degrees Celsius. Cabins and dormitories are shared among all riders.

  • Absolutely! Camping is allowed, and our team can provide tents if requested at least one week in advance of the riders' arrival.

  • No! You will only have access to your bike box on registration day (till 8:00PM) and then when you arrive to the finish line hotel.

  • You should inform the staff, and if it's URGENT, every effort will be made to take it to the necessary point.

  • We have planned 3 meals per day, which include breakfast, lunch, and dinner at the camp. Additionally, there is a food zone within the camp where you can find snacks!

  • Yes! Our kitchen staff will accommodate your needs. Although we will do our best to cater to your dietary requirements, riders with specific food intolerances should make their own preparations in advance.

  • There are days that will be longer than others; on average, you'll spend between 5 and 8 hours biking and walking each day. Expect to hike with your bike, push it, tackle a couple of long pedaling stretches, steep transitions, as well as long and technical descents. It's important to be in good physical shape, as the race is demanding and will require you to give your best.

  • Not at all! On average, only 16% of participants are professional cyclists. This event is a celebration for everyone; it's a perfect journey to have fun with friends and meet new people.

  • No. You cannot participate in this race with an electric bike, but maybe check out one of our tours!

  • Yes. You can skip a day of the race, but you won't have race results for that day or a total race time at the end of the four days.

  • You'll be assigned a Sport Ident timing chip, included in your registration fee, using the same system as the Enduro World Series to time your special stages. If you lose your timing chip, we can assign you a new one, but you'll need to pay for the one you lost (120 USD).

  • You'll ride from 25km to 45km per day, including special stages and links.

  • The route will be revealed only on the welcome day during the event summary and presentation. That's where you'll discover what awaits you for the next four days of racing! It's important to mention that Transierra Norte is not responsible for runners attempting to ride the race trails in the days leading up to the event.

    Are there pre-race tours to test the terrain? Yes, Transierra Norte offers special pre-race tours with expert guides who can take you to different riding areas in the northern sierra. It's important to book several weeks in advance to secure your spot.

  • Yes! Part of the Transierra Norte team consists of mechanics who can assist all runners. In case you need replacement parts, these will have an additional cost not included in the race.

  • Oaxaca International Airport. There are direct flights from major cities in the United States such as Houston and Los Angeles. For runners traveling from Europe, you can fly directly to Mexico City International Airport or to Cancun International Airport and then take a flight to Oaxaca City. For runners traveling from Canada, there are direct flights to Puerto Escondido International Airport and Huatulco International Airport; afterward, you can take ground transportation to Oaxaca City, which is approximately 2 hours away.

  • After registration, we'll communicate all flight-related information and a suggested travel plan via newsletter. Ideally, you should plan to arrive in Oaxaca City at least one day before the welcome party on October 21st.

  • Transportation service will only be provided to all runners arriving on October 20th and 21st. You must request the transportation service in advance.

  • Inside the airport, there are transportation services that cost approximately 30 dollars; this cost is not included in the race package.

  • Of course! This year, Transierra Norte will offer transportation to Puerto Escondido. It's important to book the service in advance via email.

  • Yes, throughout the event, we have doctors and paramedics who are in charge of providing assistance and care to the runners. Runner safety is a priority, so the medical team will always provide relevant instructions to prevent accidents. Additionally, we have a contracted hospital in case it's necessary.

  • It's mandatory to have medical expense insurance that covers mountain bike accidents. Runners who don't have it won't be able to participate in the event.

  • No, medical rescue coverage in Mexico is limited, so it's important for all runners to be aware and not exceed normal limits.
